About Us

Star Struck is a Theatre School based in Essex with classes available in Basildon, Southminster, Braintree and Grays. Star Struck was founded by Frances Styles in 2003 and has a reputation for being one of the best theatre schools in the local area. The standard of teaching is extremely high, with a diverse range of skills taught, being on par with some of the big stage schools in London. Star Struck Theatre School is suitable for children of all abilities and levels of confidence.  Some children train for a stage career, but others see the classes as a way to build confidence, make new friends and learn to express themselves. The skills taught at Star Struck are skills for life, not just skills for the stage and we pride ourselves on casting our productions fairly and giving opportunities to all our students.

Teaching Staff

All teachers at Star Struck Theatre School have graduated from a recognised Drama or Performing Arts School or University and are all professional performers or ex-professionals.  Some have made their career in the West End, whilst others are film directors, actors, dancers and session singers. All our staff at Star Struck Theatre School are committed to ensuring our students get the best standard of professional training.

All teachers are DBS checked and a first aider is always present.  At Star Struck Theatre School we aim to create an environment where the students are fully supported and enabled to reach their full potential.  Class sizes are limited to ensure all students have our full attention. Some classes have waiting lists. Classes are available to children aged 4-18.

Each branch of Star Struck Theatre School produces a musical show every year at a local theatre. In addition to the show, students take part in smaller presentations, and are involved in a film project every other year.  Older students are also offered the opportunity to take their Lamda Drama exams.

Our Policies

Uniform

All students are expected to wear the Star Struck uniform, which consists of a T Shirt or hoodie.  These may be worn with their own black leggings, tracksuit bottoms or shorts – jeans are not allowed.  The Star Struck uniform can be purchased through the school at a cost of £8 for t shirts and £15 for hoodies, which are personalized with their name. Jazz shoes should be worn, although these are less important until your child has settled in with us and has their first performance.  Jazz shoes are obligatory for all Star Struck performances and can also be purchased through the school for £15.

Fees

All fees must be paid monthly or half termly in advance, according to the branch’s policy. It is possible to pay weekly for the first half term of your child’s attendance but weekly fees must be paid whether your child attends or not in order to save their space in the class. Monthly standing orders run for ten months of the year from September until June. July and August are payment free months.  The yearly fees are split into ten equal monthly payments and continue over Christmas and Easter.
